It’s Time to Remember Our Mothers: May 13

By Christine Connelly and Sonya Kapoor

Let’s all remember to make Mother’s Day special in some way, and appreciate the love and sacrifice that our mothers have made. After all, being a mother is a round- the-clock job, 365 days a year, with no time off and not many thanks. It's one of the hardest jobs that anyone could have – but it's also one of the most rewarding.
Some of you are mothers and some not yet. Those who are can realize it better how special the mothers are. According to Wikipedia: “Mother's Day is a celebration honouring mothers and celebrating motherhood, maternal bonds and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, yet most commonly in March, April, or May.” This year in Canada, it falls on May 13. It feels like motherhood is something that needs to be celebrated everyday. Showing gratitude to our mothers is never enough.
Not sure how to make her feel special?
‘Mother’ word has two significant parts- M and other – it seems like it says “I am for others.” Why she is the one who has to take care of everyone else? It’s one day when you can show your love and affection to her. She will appreciate anything you do for her from your heart. If your mother is alive, take her for a brunch. Spend time with her at her home, if she lives separately. Pamper her by giving her a spa gift certificate, preferably at least two weeks prior to the day, so she could have some pampering done that day. Take her to a nice restaurant for dinner; preferably, pre-book your seats as restaurants tend to be busy that day.
Whatever you choose to do on Mother’s Day, make her revel in it, enjoy it to the fullest. Let her feel that you also care about her.

If your mother lives far off, send her beautiful greetings with your hand-written message showing it means a lot to you to have her in your life.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms that have given their all for their family and children!
